Athletic Board Member Duties

Board Member Duties

The underlying goal and mission of all FHS Athletic Board Members is to advocate for the student athletes at Freedom High School and the success of its athletic teams.

president

The FHS Athletic Board President is the primary liason between FHS Administration and the board.

The duties include:

  • Setting the overall goals of the Athletic Booster Club with the FHS Athletic Director
  • Ensure that all legal and tax forms are filed in a timely manner to maintain Non-Profit status and stay in good standing with all governing agencies
  • Creating the agenda for all ABC board meetings
  • Running the meetings in an orderly manner ensuring that all voices are heard
  • Attends all (or as many as possible) Athletic Booster events
    • Includes all home football games, special events in which the concession stand is open, fundraisers,  and Athletic Banquets
  • Managing the club website, ensuring ease of access for all members
  • Maintain all external resources vital to the running of the club, including:
    • payment processing services
    • website services
    • Key vendors
  • Works to improve the efficiency of the concession stand, including managing the products and proces that are sold
  • Assist all athletic teams and head coaches with any needs that fall under the perview of the Athletic Booster Club

Vice-president

The FHS Athletic Board Vice President acts in place of the president when he/she is not present or available.

The duties include:

  • Serves as the primary concession stand director and chairs the concession stand committee
  • Ensure that all Dept of Health policies are met or exceeded for the concession stand
  • Attends all (or as many as possible) Athletic Booster events
    • Includes all home football games, special events in which the concession stand is open, fundraisers,  and Athletic Banquets
  • Works to improve the efficiency of the concession stand, including managing the products and pricesthat are sold
  • Assist all athletic teams and head coaches with any needs that fall under the perview of the Athletic Booster Club

The FHS Athletic Board Secretary records all meeting minutes

The duties include:

  • Recording all meeting minutes and reports them in a timely manner.
  • Participates in all board meetings and votes on all items that are brought before the board
  • Attends all (or as many as possible) Athletic Booster events
    • Includes all home football games, special events in which the concession stand is open, fundraisers,  and Athletic Banquets
  • Assist all athletic teams and head coaches with any needs that fall under the perview of the Athletic Booster Club

Treasurer

The FHS Athletic Board Treasurer keeps a record of all financial transactions and budgets

The duties include:

  • Maintains all financial records and bank statements
  • Makes all deposits at the bank
  • Records monies collected from teams/head coaches and deposits them in a timely manner
  • Receive check request forms with receipts and writes checks in a timely manner
  • Files all necessary forms with the IRS to maintain good standing and Tax Exempt status
  • Participates in all board meetings and votes on all items that are brought before the board
  • Attends all (or as many as possible) Athletic Booster events
    • Includes all home football games, special events in which the concession stand is open, fundraisers,  and Athletic Banquets
  • Assist all athletic teams and head coaches with any needs that fall under the perview of the Athletic Booster Club

Team Liaison

The duties include:

  • Participates in all board meetings and advocates for their team and coaches 
  • Reports any important Athletic Booster events/activities to their head coaches and families
  • Communicates and advocates for Athletic Booster Membership to the team families 
  • Make sure their team profile on Freedom 360 app is up to date (roster, schedule etc.) and post game results on app. 
  • Assist their athletic teams and head coaches with any needs that fall under the perview of the Athletic Booster Club
  • This position, along with all booster members, get voting rights to elect board members at our annual meetings. However, this position does not receive a vote at normal board meetings.
